Dye Penetrant Examination
Dye Penetrant Examination consists of using a liquid dye to penetrate surface cracks. Capillary action draws the dye into any cracks present.
The excess dye is then cleaned from the surface. A Thin coating of powdered chalk is then applied to the surface, bringing the dye out of the cracks.
This results in hidden cracks becoming visible to the naked eye. NDTrak technicians are all
ASNT
level II or greater in Dye penetrant Examination.
